A World-Class, Award-Winning Wallpaper Designer & Printer Right Here in Brooklyn?
For years I walked by and peered in on their operations at 216 Pacific Street just off Court. Never explored or even asked. If the weather is warm, their doors are open and their superstar artists: hand-screeners and printers are always hard at work. Finally, I did peer in and asked some questions, and lo and behold, I found out what they do. It also helps to grab one of their brochures that is right in plain sight - contains all the explanation anyone needs.

In any case, when I went to Flavor Paper's website, I was stunned, amazed, and rather ashamed that I had not investigated who they were and what they were creating in their mysterious Studio & Workshop. It's housed in a building that you can't miss and is always humming with activity. A modern-day Renaissance Workshop and Atelier, updated for a Brooklyn that is ready to lead NYC!

In short, Flavor Paper's strategy is to "Explore all boundaries of conventional wallcovering design...and then break them." And break them they do. Bravo!

Do You Know What an Interior Architect Does and Why You May Need One?
Who knew, and just what is the difference between an Interior Architect, an Interior Designer, and an Interior Decorator?  Simply put, an Interior Architect designs building interiors and space planning while an Interior Designer and Decorator focus on the actual furnishing and decoration of an interior.

The main differences are:

• Interior Architects deal with interior spatial function and structural design. They employ a vast array of technical skills in accomplishing this.
• One needs a license to be an architect. To become a “Licensed or Registered Interior Designer” there is an extensive path that one must follow.
• Interior Design is more about aesthetics (an Interior Designer may or may not need to be Certified)
• There are different qualifications.
• An Interior Decorator needs neither special education, training, certification, or licensure.

With a New Brooklyn Museum in Williamsburg, an Arts Patron Broadens Her Horizons.
New York abounds in Museums, Institutes, Galleries, Art Collectives, and Art Spaces, and this new addition, set to open on June 5th, is the brainchild of Arts Patron Lonti Ebers. Lonti Ebers is the wife of Bruce Flatt, CEO of Brookfield Asset Management, the $800 billion Alternative Asset Management Company. Ms. Ebers is a seasoned art collector and a long-time supporter of the arts.

Her non-profit Institute Amant (Latin for "they love"), already established a residency program in Chiosure, Italy. The $40+ million already spent, not including the 21,000sf of real estate spread over a 4-building campus, is a demonstration of her commitment to a long-term presence in Brooklyn and NYC. Maybe even satellite programs in the boroughs? Who knows.

With free exhibitions, residency programs, and a vast array of lectures, research, and community outreach, this new Art Museum and Institute will only add depth, dimension, and value to our incredible cultural legacy and landscape.

Wanderlust Redefined With These Magnificent Travel Guides
Step Aside Alexandra David-Néel, Peter Mayle, and Lonely Planet...
From the pens of two of New York's best travel writers, Dean Dalton and Andie Easton, come ten "concise and opinionated" new travel books for 2021. Succinct information delivery, great layout, little-known local restaurants, beautiful photos, and a lot of heart and soul all come together in a masterful way.

These singular guides really have no equivalent on the market and are unique in their genre and style. Kudos to these two seasoned world travelers. These guide books are perfect for first-time and well-versed travelers.

This is how it all started:

"Always excessively curious, they were constantly asking the questions that today’s travelers need to know. They wondered, “Are we seeing the very best sights and are they even open today? Are there any that are a rip-off? Is there a better restaurant on the next street that we should have known about? What faster, cheaper way can we get to and from the airport? What about local hang-outs? Is the city blocked off for a marathon on our arrival day?

These and other questions took time and research but paid off in a big way. Now you can save that time by grabbing one of their “Clued In” travel books. Their concise and opinionated at-a-glace listings for each recommended place will, quite simply, make your trip better. Over fifty gorgeous color photos in each book complete the experience. Even first-time visitors to a city can feel like they’ve been going there all their life."

Available solely as interactive e-books on Amazon and at a retro-price of $6.99 per, they are now the travel book of choice of this New Yorker. They are making original, creative, insightful, and memorable contributions to the specialty writing genre of travel writing. And it's time we all start thinking about the joys of travel again.

Check out their beautiful Instagram and Facebook accounts. And here is Clued In's Website.
